Solid Career Start in Global Logistics
Pros: I've really enjoyed the work flexibility offered, which has allowed for a good hybrid work arrangement. My team here in Rotterdam is incredibly supportive, and I've learned so much about global supply chain management. Maersk provides a stable environment, and there are ample training resources if you want to grow your career within the industry. The benefits package is competitive too.
Cons: While there are many opportunities, career progression can sometimes feel a bit slow given the size of this multinational logistics company. Also, some of the internal systems feel a little legacy, and navigating approvals for new initiatives can be quite bureaucratic. It can be a challenge for quick decision-making.
Advice to Management: Focus on simplifying internal processes and modernizing legacy systems to improve efficiency and speed up decision-making across departments within this large global organization.

Supportive Leadership, Great Global Career in Logistics
Pros: Management here really supports professional growth, which is great for a Supply Chain Analyst. I've gained deep insights into global logistics operations. The team in Charlotte is collaborative, and it's a very stable company in the shipping industry with a good culture.
Cons: Given its global scale, some internal approval processes can be slow. More consistent communication from senior leadership on strategic changes would also be beneficial for teams.
Advice to Management: Continue focusing on streamlining internal processes and improving top-down communication to ensure everyone feels connected to the broader company goals and changes in the global logistics market.

Stable Environment with Good Learning Opportunities
Pros: It's a very stable company in the global logistics and shipping industry. I appreciate the job security and steady environment. My colleagues are supportive, and there are good opportunities to learn new systems and processes as a Logistics Coordinator. It's great to be part of a team working on global trade challenges.
Cons: Being such a large corporation, things can sometimes feel a bit bureaucratic, which occasionally slows down decision-making. The career growth path, while clear, can also feel a little slow for promotions.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining some of the internal approval processes to reduce bureaucracy. Also, clearer communication around career progression timelines could help motivate employees who are looking to advance.

Decent Flexibility for Corporate, Still a Big Ship
Pros: As a Logistics Coordinator, I've had pretty solid hybrid work options, usually 2-3 days in the Rotterdam office. It's a big corporate environment, so they do have formal WFH policies for certain roles. You can usually manage your schedule if you plan ahead, which is a big plus.
Cons: Not all departments get the same flexibility, especially in operational roles directly tied to the shipping industry. Sometimes it feels like you're still expected to be 'on' even when working remotely. Communication about changes can be slow too.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize work flexibility across more departments where possible. Recognize that not all global logistics roles require daily onsite presence.

Great leadership and a stable environment for Supply Chain professionals
Pros: I've really valued the supportive leadership and team as a Supply Chain Analyst in Houston. Being a global integrated logistics company, it offers incredible job security and learning opportunities in shipping. The hybrid work model helps with work-life balance, which is a huge benefit.
Cons: Bureaucracy is common in a large multinational corporation; processes can be slow. Career growth isn't always quick despite good performance.
Advice to Management: Streamline some of the internal approval processes to increase efficiency. Also, providing more transparent career pathing could help employees plan their development better.

Maersk is a big ship, sometimes slow to change
Pros: Being part of a global enterprise like Maersk means they're not going anywhere. For supply chain management professionals, there's a strong sense of stability, especially for core operational roles. You don't often worry about sudden layoffs, which is good.
Cons: While generally secure, changes in the global shipping industry can lead to department reorganizations. Sometimes, new automation initiatives make you wonder about long-term job prospects for certain operational tasks in the Rotterdam office. It can feel a bit like a machine at times.
Advice to Management: Keep employees informed about automation plans. More transparency around how new tech impacts freight forwarding roles would ease a lot of minds.

Decent Pay, Benefits Could Use a Boost
Pros: The base salary for a Logistics Coordinator is actually pretty decent for the shipping industry. I've heard worse. Health insurance is solid too, which is a major benefit.
Cons: Annual raises are barely noticeable, though. Don't expect big jumps. Also, the 401k match isn't great for a corporate giant like Maersk, especially for those of us in the Houston office.
Advice to Management: Management needs to seriously re-evaluate the retirement matching program. Competitive annual raises would help with retention for sure.

Hybrid Model is Okay, But Could Be Better
Pros: It's nice that we do have some hybrid work options here in the Rotterdam office. As a Logistics Coordinator, I appreciate the 2-3 WFH days when the schedule allows. It helps avoid the daily commute sometimes.
Cons: The work flexibility can be tough due to operational demands in the shipping industry. Sometimes you're expected to be fully onsite, especially when dealing with urgent container freight issues. It's not always consistent, which makes planning hard.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid policy more for Logistics Coordinator roles. Clearer guidelines on WFH eligibility would really help employees plan better.

Work-Life Balance is Okay, Can Get Demanding
Pros: I liked the hybrid work model; we got 2 WFH days which definitely helped. For ocean operations roles, the team in the Houston office was pretty collaborative, making tough days a bit more manageable.
Cons: The hours can be long and unpredictable, especially when there are major supply chain disruptions or vessel delays. As a Logistics Coordinator, I often felt chained to my desk past 5 PM, which cut into personal time and made consistent work-life balance difficult.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into better staffing for logistics teams to reduce the burden of consistently long hours. It's tough to sustain a healthy work-life balance when the workload is always pushing boundaries, especially in critical global shipping functions.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: For a Logistics Coordinator in a large corporate environment, the job security is pretty solid. I appreciated the opportunity to work on large-scale projects in the global supply chain. The benefits package was also decent for the shipping industry.
Cons: The leadership often feels out of touch with day-to-day operations. It's tough to get new ideas heard or implemented, especially in the Rotterdam office. There's a lot of bureaucracy that slows down decision-making. My direct manager was fine, but higher-ups seemed focused on different priorities.
Advice to Management: Senior leadership needs to engage more with front-line employees. Listen to the teams handling the actual shipping industry operations. Reduce the red tape for approvals and empower middle management more.
