Pros: I really like the hybrid work setup here, getting a couple WFH days is a huge plus for a Software Engineer. Most weeks are a solid 40 hours, which is pretty decent for the financial services industry. The PTO policy is good, and managers usually encourage you to use it.
Cons: However, certain project deadlines can make weeks tough, pushing past 40 hours occasionally. It's sometimes hard to completely disconnect, especially when you're in the McLean, VA office. Some teams expect you to be 'always on,' which isn't great for personal time.
Advice to Management: Encourage managers to really enforce boundaries and discourage 'always on' cultures. More clarity on project scope might help prevent crunch times for engineering teams.
