Good remote work, but slow career growth
Pros: I've been a Software Engineer here for a couple of years now. The remote work setup is great, gives a lot of flexibility. We do get to work on some interesting features in the software development industry, which is a plus.
Cons: Career growth is really tough at this small startup. There aren't many clear paths to move up, even for experienced engineers. I haven't seen much done for professional development, like getting certifications or attending workshops.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to create clear career ladders for all roles, especially for us engineers. Invest in training and mentorship programs to help people grow.

Decent Work-Life Balance for a Tech Role
Pros: You get some good flexibility here. As a Software Engineer, I can often shift my hours around, which helps a lot. They're pretty supportive of hybrid work, which is a huge plus compared to fully onsite roles at other mid-sized tech companies.
Cons: But don't expect 40-hour weeks consistently. There are definite crunch times, especially before major releases in the tech industry. The pressure can get intense, even in the San Francisco office.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the crunch periods more. Consistent workload management would really help with employee burnout. Also, consider clearer expectations on project timelines.

Pay's Just Okay, Benefits Are Pretty Standard
Pros: My base salary as a Frontend Developer was decent enough for a mid-sized tech startup. The 401k match is pretty solid and starts quick, which I appreciate. We get your typical medical, dental, and vision stuff too.
Cons: The salary just doesn't quite cut it with the cost of living here in Austin, TX, especially for experienced engineering roles. Raises aren't super generous, and stock options are pretty limited. It's tough to negotiate much beyond your initial offer.
Advice to Management: You guys really need to re-evaluate the compensation bands, especially for all engineering roles. The cost of living in Austin, TX is no joke. Offering more generous stock options or a clearer path for bigger raises would totally help with keeping people around.
