Role Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead - Backend & Cloud (Python) to join our Grid Control Foundation product line and drive the development of next-generation backend services and platform capabilities.
In this role, you will combine hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, shaping the architecture of cloud-native, distributed systems while supporting the evolution of our internal developer platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, contributing to solution design, engineering excellence, and the adoption of modern software development practices.
This is an opportunity for a senior technology professional who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, influencing technical direction, and building scalable, event-driven solutions on Kubernetes and Azure.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of modern backend services and platform capabilities for the Grid Control Foundation product line.
- Design and evolve scalable, distributed system architectures with a strong focus on microservices and event-driven patterns.
- Drive technical decisions and promote engineering best practices across the development lifecycle.
- Contribute hands-on to the development of robust backend applications using Python.
- Support and enhance the internal developer platform (e.g., Backstage) to improve developer experience and operational efficiency.
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native deployments using Kubernetes, Helm Charts, and GitOps practices (e.g., ArgoCD).
- Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines and Azure deployment processes.
- Work closely with frontend engineers and contribute, when required, to applications built with Angular and/or React.
- Promote software quality through scalable design patterns, continuous integration, and automated testing practices.
- Support the adoption of modern data architecture concepts, including Data Mesh, Data Contracts, Data Quality, and Data Governance.
- Act as a technical mentor and trusted advisor for engineering teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Work effectively within an Agile/Scrum environment, partnering with product owners, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Role Requirements:
Must Have
- Proven experience in a Technical Lead, Lead Backend Engineer, or Solution/Software Architect role.
- Extensive experience in designing and developing backend services and platform solutions.
- Strong expertise in designing solution architecture for distributed systems, including:
- Microservice architectures,
- Event-driven systems,
- Scalable and resilient cloud-native applications.
- At least 3 years of professional experience developing backend applications with Python.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deployment and management using Helm Charts.
- Practical experience with ArgoCD or similar GitOps tools.
- Experience working with developer platforms, such as Backstage.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, scalability principles, and CI/CD best practices.
- Experience with Azure Deployment Pipelines and cloud-based delivery models.
- Familiarity with modern data architecture concepts, including Data Mesh, Data Contracts, Data Quality, and Data Governance.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Good working knowledge of Angular and/or React.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across distributed teams.
- Fluency in English and German (B2/ C1 ).
