The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, close management, controls, and compliance for US-based companies.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate at both a strategic and detailed level. You will be responsible for the integrity of financial reporting while improving accounting processes, managing stakeholders, supporting audits, and guiding accounting teams.
You will work closely with US-based finance leaders and ensure that financial information is accurate, timely, compliant, and decision-ready.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations across the general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and close
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statements
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate and compliant with US GAAP
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and close procedures
- Monitor balance sheet integrity and ensure outstanding issues are resolved
- Coordinate audits and manage relationships with external auditors
- Support tax, compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Oversee multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions where applicable
- Build scalable accounting processes to support business growth
- Lead accounting system implementations, migrations, and automation initiatives
- Develop SOPs, accounting policies, and reporting standards
- Review, mentor, and support accounting team members
- Communicate financial risks, accounting issues, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Partner with leadership on accounting implications of business decisions
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities when required
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience operating as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Director, or senior Accounting Manager
- Strong end-to-end knowledge of accounting operations and financial reporting
- Deep understanding of US GAAP
- Experience working with US-based companies, clients, or finance leaders
- Proven ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Strong financial statement preparation and review experience
- Experience managing audits and working with external auditors
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and accounting policies
- Experience managing or reviewing the work of accounting teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly
- Strong judgment, ownership, and attention to financial accuracy
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
- Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Oracle, SAP, or similar ERPs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidations
- Experience with ERP implementations, migrations, or finance transformation initiatives
- Experience supporting board, lender, or management reporting
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or FP&A collaboration
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent accounting certification is strongly preferred
