The Opportunity
The DevOps & Release Manager has end-to-end ownership of Release Management across BSS applications within T&S. The role is accountable for defining, governing and continuously improving the release management framework, ensuring the planned, timely and controlled promotion of code through non-production and production environments.
The role owns release cadence, planning, coordination and execution across multiple engineering teams and vendors, balancing speed, quality and risk. Acting as the single point of accountability for release outcomes, the DevOps & Release Manager champions DevOps and CI/CD maturity, embedding automation, quality and secure-by-design practices to enable scalable, predictable and high-quality delivery within a scaled agile model.
What you'll be responsible for
The key responsibilities of the role are listed below. These may change in response to your personal growth and business demands.
Release Management & Governance
- Design, implement and own the enterprise release management framework, ensuring consistency, transparency and repeatability across delivery teams.
- Establish release governance, standards and controls aligned to organisational risk appetite and industry best practice.
- Own and manage the end-to-end release lifecycle, including the timely promotion of code through development, test, staging and production environments.
- Own and maintain the release cadence, calendar and forward schedule across all environments.
- Facilitate release readiness reviews, Go/No-Go sessions and formal release approvals.
- Ensure releases comply with change, security, quality and operational requirements.
DevOps & CI/CD Enablement
- Champion DevOps culture and practices, partnering with engineering teams to uplift CI/CD maturity.
- Drive automation across build, test, deployment and release pipelines to enable fast, reliable code promotion between environments.
- Embed quality, security and compliance controls into pipelines using secure-by-design principles.
- Identify and remove manual steps, constraints and dependencies that delay code promotion and release throughput.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate release activities across multiple product, platform and delivery teams, including third-party vendors.
- Act as the central point of accountability for release dependencies, sequencing and environment availability.
- Provide clear, timely communications to technology and business stakeholders before, during and after releases.
Risk, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks associated with releases, deployments and environment transitions.
- Lead post-release reviews, lessons learnt and root cause analysis to continuously improve release reliability and speed.
- Define, track and report on release and DevOps metrics (e.g. deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate).
- Continuously evolve release and promotion practices to support scale, resilience and operational stability.
Environment Management
- Own and coordinate environment management across non-production and production landscapes.
- Ensure environments are stable, appropriately configured and available to support testing, validation and release activities.
- Plan and optimise environment usage to support parallel delivery and frequent code promotion in a scaled agile model.
What you'll bring to the role
Essential
- Proven experience in Release Management, DevOps or Platform delivery within complex, multi-team environments.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments and environment promotion strategies.

- Demonstrated ability to manage release cadence, dependencies and environment transitions at scale.
- Strong risk management, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable
- Experience in large-scale or regulated enterprise environments.
- Hands-on exposure to modern DevOps tooling (e.g. Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Kubernetes).
