Application Ownership & Lifecycle Management
Role Summary
The Application Analyst / Business Analyst will own assigned applications end-to-end across their lifecycle. The role requires strong understanding of application architecture, dependencies, and operational risk, with the ability to support both known and unknown applications using SOPs. The analyst will act as the single point of ownership for assigned applications and work closely with onsite, offshore, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Application Ownership & Lifecycle Management
- Act as single point of ownership for assigned applications across their lifecycle (intake, analysis, change, deployment, support, and retirement).
- Manage end-to-end Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) including impact analysis, dependency mapping, and risk identification.
- Ensure applications meet operational, security, and compliance requirements throughout the lifecycle.
Application Analysis & Support
- Analyze application architecture including tiers, integrations, dependencies, and upstream/downstream impacts.
- Perform impact and risk assessment for changes, incidents, upgrades, and releases.
- Provide hands-on L2/L3 application support, including troubleshooting, coordination with vendors/development teams, and issue resolution.
Operational Excellence
- Work on known and unknown applications using documented SOPs, playbooks, and defined workflows.
- Drive incident, problem, and change activities to closure with clear documentation and stakeholder communication.
- Maintain application documentation including SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
- Work effectively across offshore and onsite teams, ensuring seamless handoffs and clear communication.
- Support time-zone coverage as required for client-facing activities.
- Act as liaison between operations, development, infrastructure, security, and vendors.
Required Skills & Experience
Core Skills
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
- Solid understanding of application architecture, tiers (UI, middleware, database), and integrations.
- Experience assessing application dependencies and operational risk.
- Hands-on experience in L2 / L3 application support in a production environment.
Functional / Business Analysis
- Ability to perform requirement clarification, impact analysis, and translate business needs into operational actions.
- Experience coordinating changes across multiple technical teams.
Soft Skills
- Strong ownership mindset and accountability.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience Level
- L2: 4-7 years of experience in Application Support / Application Analysis
- L3: 7-10+ years of experience with strong ownership of complex or critical applications
Nice to Have
- Experience in large enterprise environments with diverse application portfolios.
- Exposure to financial services or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools, change management, and release coordination.
