Hybrid model is okay, but needs work
Pros: The hybrid work model is a solid perk for us in engineering. It's nice to have some flexibility, especially for aerospace projects where some collaboration is key.
Cons: It's tough when they mandate 3 days in the Dallas, TX office, even for roles that don't always need it. Full remote options are rare for many technical positions in this big corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Consider giving teams more autonomy on remote vs. onsite work. More flexible options would really help retain talent, especially for software engineering roles.

Solid company, slow career growth for engineers
Pros: You get solid job security, which is a huge plus with all the government contracts in the aerospace and defense industry. Pay and benefits are decent too for a big corporate environment. The hybrid work schedule was okay.
Cons: Career growth for a Software Engineer here felt really slow. There's not much room to move up or switch projects easily within the Tucson, AZ office. You can feel stuck in your role, and promotions are rare.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer internal career paths and more opportunities for Software Engineers to take on new challenges. Don't let good people feel stuck.

Decent Security for a Big Defense Contractor
Pros: It's a solid place to work as a Software Engineer, especially with so many government contracts. The company size as a major defense contractor really helps with stability. I felt pretty secure in the Tucson, AZ office for most of my tenure.
Cons: Job security can feel a bit tied to specific programs. If your project loses funding in the aerospace industry, it can get nerve-wracking. There aren't always clear alternative roles if your current program ends.
Advice to Management: More transparency on project longevity and potential internal transfers would really help employees feel more secure. It's tough when you hear rumors about program cuts without clear communication.
