Pros: My role as a Software Engineer feels secure. The company's core business in document processing and SDK development is strong, so there's good job security. Projects are stable, not a lot of sudden shifts or layoffs, which is a big plus for a mid-sized tech company.
Cons: While job security is decent, there aren't many clear paths for rapid career growth or promotions here. It often feels like roles are fixed for a long time without much change. The pay is okay, but it's not top-tier for what senior Software Engineer roles get in big tech.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer paths for career advancement for your Software Engineers. Recognizing and rewarding long-term employees with more opportunities for growth would really help with retention and overall morale.

Pros: My hours as a Software Engineer were usually around 40-45 hours a week. The Vancouver, BC office supported a hybrid model, which was nice for splitting time. You can actually have a life outside of work here.
Cons: Sometimes deadlines for new features in our PDF SDK meant longer days. There wasn't much flexibility during those specific periods. It can be tough to completely disconnect on big projects.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the crunch times more consistently for the engineering teams. Better project planning could really help.
