Hybrid Work Is a Rarity Here
Pros: For corporate office staff, there's some WFH flexibility. As a Mining Engineer, you might get a rare day from home if your manager is cool. The PTO policy is actually pretty decent here.
Cons: True hybrid work for operational roles? Forget it. You're mostly onsite, especially in the Arequipa operations. Travel for mining projects is non-negotiable, and it's tough on personal life.
Advice to Management: Look into offering more remote or hybrid options for roles where it makes sense, even for field engineers when possible. It would really help with employee morale.

Leadership needs to step up at Nexa Resources
Pros: The pay is actually pretty solid for a Mining Engineer in the Arequipa region, especially for the onsite work at our mineral extraction sites. Benefits are decent too, like the health plan. You do learn a ton about large-scale mining operations.
Cons: Leadership is just so disconnected from daily operations at the mine sites. They often make decisions that don't really make sense on the ground for us field engineers. There's not much support when issues pop up, and communication from higher-ups is often super vague.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the people actually doing the work, especially the engineers managing the production targets. Improve communication channels and give clearer direction to the teams.

Leadership needs a lot of work here
Pros: Job security is solid in the mining industry, especially for engineers. You learn a lot about large-scale mineral extraction. The pay and benefits for an onsite Mining Engineer in Ouro Preto are actually pretty decent, especially compared to local standards.
Cons: Leadership is really out of touch with the team. Upper management doesn't seem to care about modern practices or employee input, which is tough for technical roles. There's not much room for true career growth if you're looking to innovate in mineral processing.
Advice to Management: Listen to your ground-level engineers and technical staff. Invest in leadership training that focuses on modern team management and employee engagement for the mining sector.
