Okay Balance for a Corporate Banking Analyst
Pros: Weekends are usually respected here, which is a big plus for investment banking adjacent roles. There's some flexibility for personal appointments if you manage your workload well in the NYC office. It's not a complete grind 24/7.
Cons: Expect long hours during deal sprints, often 60-70 hours a week for this corporate banking role. It can be hard to plan things outside of work consistently. They don't really push for an early end to the day.
Advice to Management: Try to be more mindful of consistent workloads, especially for junior staff. Spreading out the work could prevent burnout.

Work-life balance is okay, but it's a grind
Pros: For a global bank, the pay and benefits are solid. The New York City office environment is decent, and there's some support for junior financial analysts trying to manage tasks, especially with the hybrid model on some teams. You learn a ton in financial services here.
Cons: The hours are often really long, especially during peak deal flow periods in corporate banking. It's tough to plan much outside of work. Sometimes, the 'hybrid' model still feels like you're always on call, even when WFH.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce reasonable working hours more consistently, especially for junior staff. Burnout is real, and it impacts long-term retention.

Pay's Solid, Benefits Are Pretty Standard
Pros: As a Financial Analyst, the base salary was pretty solid. For investment banking operations, the pay package kept up with industry standards. The hybrid work model gave some decent remote flexibility, which is a big plus. You get a good 401k match and basic health coverage.
Cons: Bonuses felt a bit opaque sometimes; it wasn't always clear how they were calculated. The healthcare plan options are just okay, and out-of-pocket costs can add up. It's not the best if you're looking for truly comprehensive benefits. Some perks I've seen at other big corporate banks were missing here.
Advice to Management: Transparency around bonus structures would be great. Also, consider improving the healthcare benefits package to be more competitive. It's tough to retain talent in this financial services industry when others offer more.
