Senior Merchandiser

Decent Place, but Growth Can Be Tough
Pros: Good stability for a big brand. You learn a lot about the retail and fashion industry here. As a Senior Merchandiser, I got to work on some major collections, which was cool. The benefits package was also pretty solid.
Cons: Career growth felt stagnant after a while. There just aren't many opportunities to move up for mid-level roles, especially in the corporate HQ in New York City. It's a very hierarchical structure, which makes internal promotions hard.
Advice to Management: Managers should focus more on creating clear growth paths for their employees, especially for experienced professionals in merchandising. It would really help with retention.

Decent for retail, but expect long hours
Pros: The team is solid, and I've learned a lot in merchandise planning. It's a big corporate environment, so there are good resources and the brand recognition is strong. The hybrid work schedule was a definite plus for me.
Cons: Work-life balance as an Associate Merchandise Planner can be tough during peak seasons. You're often expected to work past 5 PM in the New York City office, and logging in on weekends isn't uncommon. The demands in the fashion industry are pretty high.
Advice to Management: Recognize the burnout risks for junior roles like Associate Merchandise Planners. Invest more in staffing or better tools to manage workload spikes, especially during key retail seasons. It would help with retention.
