Pros: As a Junior Trader, I really learned a lot about commodities trading. The senior team in the Chicago office was always helpful and I got a decent education in market research. It's a good place if you're just starting out.
Cons: Actual career growth felt pretty limited here, especially for dedicated trading roles. It's a mid-sized firm, so promotion opportunities don't open up quickly. I felt like I hit a ceiling after a couple of years without a clear next step.
Advice to Management: Establish clearer career paths for junior staff in commodities trading. More mentorship programs focused on advancement, not just training, would help. Consider regular check-ins on growth goals.
