Pros: The hybrid model is pretty solid, letting us WFH a few days each week. It's great for balancing personal appointments and avoiding the daily commute in Austin. You can often flex your start and end times, which helps a lot with daily life as a Research Scientist.
Cons: Sometimes there's pressure to come into the office even when it's not strictly necessary for lab work. True remote work isn't really an option for most roles, which feels a bit old school for the modern biotech industry. The official hybrid policy could also be clearer on mandatory onsite days.
Advice to Management: Really evaluate which roles within the biotech industry truly need to be onsite every week. Consider offering more flexible remote options for non-lab intensive research projects.
