Leadership needs a stronger vision at HTC
Pros: You get to work on some pretty cool mobile technology and VR projects. The engineers are super smart and dedicated, and there's a decent learning curve for new tech as a Software Engineer.
Cons: Leadership often pivots strategy without clear communication, which feels pretty chaotic. It's tough when projects change direction frequently. The top brass in the Taipei office sometimes seems disconnected from daily team issues.
Advice to Management: Work on consistent strategy and better communication with the engineering teams. Try to listen to the mid-level managers more; they know what's happening on the ground.

Hybrid Model Works Okay, Room to Grow
Pros: I liked the option to come into the office a few days a week; it's a solid hybrid work model. It was good for collaboration, especially when working on new mobile tech projects. The office itself is pretty decent for the consumer electronics industry.
Cons: Work flexibility here isn't great, especially for a big tech company. There's an expectation to be in the Seattle office specific days, which can make planning tough as a software engineer. Full remote work options are very limited, even for roles that don't need daily onsite presence.
Advice to Management: Consider more flexible remote work options for experienced software engineers. It would really help with talent retention and improve overall work-life balance.
