Hybrid model is okay, but needs work
Pros: There's a decent attempt at a hybrid work model, which is nice for some roles. As a Grid Operations Analyst, I appreciate having specific days in the Rio de Janeiro office for team collaboration. It's a big utility company, so job security feels solid.
Cons: The 'flexible' part of the work flexibility is often more theoretical than practical. It's tough to get approval for true remote work outside of the designated hybrid days. For energy sector roles, it often feels like you're expected to be onsite more than advertised.
Advice to Management: Seriously look at how work flexibility is implemented for Grid Operations Analyst and similar roles. Make the approval process for remote work outside of hybrid days clearer and more accessible. Trust your employees more to manage their time and tasks.

Work-Life is Okay, But Prepare for Calls
Pros: As an Electrical Engineer working in Brazil, I've found the standard 40-hour week is often followed. You get decent vacation time, which is key for a large utility company. The team generally supports each other, helping manage the daily workload for power distribution projects.
Cons: The big issue for work-life balance is the constant on-call requirements. Emergencies, especially with grid maintenance, can totally disrupt your plans. There isn't much work flexibility either, since most of our tasks require onsite presence in the Rio de Janeiro office.
Advice to Management: Try to improve the on-call rotation structure to lessen the burden on individual Electrical Engineers. More clear policies around emergency compensation would also help.

Leadership is a bit hit or miss
Pros: You get to work with some really experienced professionals in energy distribution. The company is stable, so job security for onsite roles is pretty decent. Benefits are okay.
Cons: Mid-level management can be disorganized. Communication from the top down often isn't clear, especially for engineering projects. It makes planning tough.
Advice to Management: Improve communication channels, especially between different management levels. Invest in training for middle managers on team leadership and clear goal setting.
