Pay's fine for entry-level, benefits need work
Pros: The base salary for a Marketing Coordinator in the New York City office was decent for a big corporate beauty company. I appreciated the 401k match; it's a solid perk. Our healthcare options were okay, not amazing but not bad either.
Cons: Raises weren't really substantial, even with good performance reviews, which was tough. It felt like annual compensation adjustments barely kept up with inflation for junior marketing roles. The overall benefits package just wasn't as competitive as other companies in the consumer goods industry.
Advice to Management: Review the compensation structure for mid-level and senior marketing roles to ensure salaries are truly competitive with the broader consumer goods and beauty industries. Better benefits and more transparent raise processes would really help with retention.

Okay Leadership, Decent Experience for Brand Roles
Pros: As a Marketing Coordinator in the New York City office, I got solid exposure to big consumer goods brands. It's a huge beauty industry player, so there's always something new happening. You learn a lot if you're willing to jump in.
Cons: Leadership can feel pretty far removed from daily operations. It's tough to get direct feedback or mentorship for junior roles in this large corporate environment. Decisions often come from the top without much input.
Advice to Management: Try to be more visible and accessible to junior staff, especially in brand management. More mentorship programs would really help with career development.

Job Security Can Feel A Bit Shaky
Pros: For my Brand Manager role in the prestige fragrance market, things felt pretty stable most of the time. Coty is a huge global company, so there are always projects to work on and resources available.
Cons: There's been a lot of restructuring and divestitures, which makes you wonder about your future. Layoffs weren't uncommon, especially if your role wasn't directly tied to a growing portfolio or was impacted by the shift to a hybrid model. It's tough not knowing what's next.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer communication regarding long-term strategy and how employees fit into it. Reduce the constant reorganizations to build more trust and stability for employees.

Hybrid model needs more real flexibility
Pros: It's a big corporate company, so you do get stability. As a Marketing Coordinator, you learn a lot about the global beauty brand landscape. The office environment itself is pretty modern in the New York City office.
Cons: The hybrid model isn't very flexible in practice; we're mostly onsite. WFH days are often discouraged, especially for junior roles. It makes work-life balance tough when you can't truly work remotely when needed.
Advice to Management: Seriously reconsider the hybrid policy for teams like Marketing. Give employees real flexibility for WFH days, not just the illusion of it. It would help a lot with retention, especially for talent in a competitive market like the beauty industry in New York.

Hybrid model has its perks, but could improve.
Pros: As a Junior Brand Manager, the hybrid model is decent. I get two WFH days a week, which really helps with personal appointments. It's good for saving on commute time to the NYC office, especially in this corporate beauty environment.
Cons: However, the in-office days are strict; sometimes there's no real reason to be there. For brand management roles, more remote work could totally be an option. There isn't much flexibility when team meetings run late.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing the mandatory in-office days. More autonomy for teams on hybrid schedules would boost morale and actual productivity. Not every meeting needs to be in-person.

Career growth can be tough here, expect a wait
Pros: It's a huge name in the beauty industry, so that's good for your resume. I liked the hybrid work model; it gave me some flexibility in the New York City office. The teams I worked with were generally pretty supportive.
Cons: Career growth is really slow as an Associate Brand Manager. There aren't many clear paths up, especially in this corporate environment. I felt like opportunities for promotion were rare, even with solid performance.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer progression paths for junior roles. It'd help with retention if people could see a future here.

Decent Pay, Standard Benefits for CPG
Pros: The base salary for a Marketing Coordinator here in the New York City office is pretty solid, especially for entry-level roles in the beauty products industry. I've found the 401k match to be a nice perk, which isn't always a given in big corporate environments.
Cons: Healthcare coverage is just okay; premiums can eat into your paycheck quite a bit. Don't expect huge annual bonuses or major pay raises, it's pretty standard for a large CPG company.
Advice to Management: Review the healthcare plans. Better benefits could really help retain talent, especially for those working hard in the cosmetics industry.

Hybrid Model is Okay, But Could Be Better
Pros: As an Associate Brand Manager in the beauty industry, the hybrid work model is a solid perk. It's nice to have 2-3 days WFH, especially avoiding the commute to the New York City corporate office.
Cons: There's still pressure to be in more often, especially for big meetings or product launches. Sometimes, the "flexible" days feel less flexible if your team insists on specific in-office days. It's not truly remote-first.
Advice to Management: Truly embrace flexibility and empower teams to set schedules that work, rather than a top-down mandate for in-office days. Trust your Associate Brand Managers.

Coty Culture: A Bit of a Mixed Bag
Pros: I've met some genuinely nice people working in the marketing department at Coty. The team environment can be really solid, which makes the day-to-day bearable. Getting employee discounts on our beauty products is a definite perk for anyone in the beauty industry.
Cons: The overall company culture feels a bit cliquey and hierarchical. It's tough to break into established groups, especially if you're new to the New York City office. For an Associate Brand Manager, it sometimes feels like upper leadership isn't really listening.
Advice to Management: Try to foster a more inclusive company culture across all levels. Break down some of those internal silos and ensure leadership is more visibly engaged with all team members, not just senior staff. Open communication could really help.

Job Security Can Be Unpredictable at Coty
Pros: Working as a Junior Brand Manager in the beauty industry at Coty was a great learning experience. I got to work on some big global brands, which is pretty cool for my resume. The teams are generally supportive, and you learn a lot about brand strategy.
Cons: Job security here can be a real worry. There's often talk of restructuring, and I've seen a few rounds of layoffs in the New York City office. It makes you feel like your role isn't always safe in this big corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Being more transparent about the company's direction would really help. Constant restructuring hurts morale and makes people nervous about their future here. Try to create more stability for employees.
