Oracle Applications embed AI directly into business workflows and industry processes to ensure AI is delivered in context, where work happens. They include the only applications suite that brings AI to every aspect of a business, with AI-powered ERP, HCM, and CX applications, and the Oracle Health Suite which provides applications for managing the entire healthcare ecosystem. Solid place for a tech career, but be ready.
Pros: The pay for a Software Engineer is really competitive, and benefits are decent. There's a lot of stability in a big tech company like Oracle. Plus, many teams have good work flexibility for hybrid work arrangements now, which helps a lot.
Cons: Work-life balance can swing wildly. Some weeks you're pushing 50-60 hours, especially around release cycles for enterprise software. It's hard to consistently keep a 40-hour week if you're on a critical project.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project loads so engineering teams aren't constantly overwhelmed. Consistent 40-hour weeks should be the goal for most roles.

Remote Work Helps, Still a Demanding Big Tech Job
Pros: I really appreciate the work flexibility here. Being a remote Project Manager means I can manage my personal life pretty well around meetings. It's a solid perk for a big tech company.
Cons: But let's be real, it's Oracle. The workload can get intense, especially during crunch times. You'll often find yourself working more than 40 hours a week to keep up with project deadlines.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic project timelines and empower managers to push back on scope creep. It would greatly improve employee well-being and reduce burnout.

Hybrid model offers some decent flexibility.
Pros: I appreciate the option for a hybrid model; it's not fully onsite for my technical role. I can choose my office days, which helps with my personal appointments. It's good for managing some tasks remotely for a big tech company.
Cons: The "hybrid" isn't always truly flexible. In the Austin, TX office, certain teams expect you in more than others, making remote work less consistent. It's tough to get real flexibility sometimes, even in cloud computing roles. Some managers are less understanding about WFH days.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid policy across all teams. Give managers more consistent guidelines on work flexibility, especially for technical roles. Trust employees more with remote options.
