Leadership is a mixed bag, depends on project.
Pros: As a Senior Consultant, I appreciated the opportunity to work on cutting-edge custom software projects. When you get good leadership, they're really supportive and foster strong agile development practices in the Chicago office.
Cons: The biggest struggle is the inconsistency of leadership. Some directors are great, but others are quite hands-off or don't really understand what it's like in software delivery roles. It can feel like you're navigating inconsistent expectations.
Advice to Management: Really focus on developing consistent leadership training across all business units. We need leaders who understand the trenches, especially for software delivery roles.

Leadership Can Be Really Hit or Miss
Pros: My direct project leads were generally solid. They understood the technical challenges for agile development and supported our team well. There's good autonomy if your immediate leadership is effective.
Cons: Higher-up leadership in the New York City office sometimes felt totally disconnected. Decisions from the top often lacked clear reasoning. It was tough as a Senior Software Developer getting consistent direction for complex projects.
Advice to Management: Try to connect more with project teams. Be clearer about strategic decisions and why they're being made. Get a better pulse on daily operations.

Pay is decent, benefits are solid here
Pros: The health benefits package is pretty good, especially for a global tech consultancy. I liked the focus on mental health resources. As a Senior Software Engineer, my base salary was competitive for the Chicago office.
Cons: Annual raises aren't always great, and the bonus structure isn't very transparent. It's tough to negotiate higher compensation once you're in. For some long-term employees, overall pay growth feels slow compared to market trends.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about compensation bands and review processes. Focus on retaining talent with competitive pay adjustments, especially for experienced engineering roles.

Solid Learning, Challenging Career Path
Pros: You get to work with lots of different clients, which is cool for learning new tech stacks and agile methodologies. The internal training resources are really good; there's always something to dive into.
Cons: Formal career progression, especially for Senior Software Developer roles, feels slow. It's tough to get promoted, and the path isn't super clear, especially if you're remote from Illinois. Sometimes you feel stuck at a level.
Advice to Management: Make promotion criteria more transparent and offer clearer pathways for career advancement, especially for those not always in an office setting. More consistent mentorship would help too.

Pay is okay, but benefits are solid
Pros: I liked the health benefits package, it's pretty solid. Vacation time is also decent. For Senior Software Consultant roles, the projects are often cutting-edge, which is a big pro for skill growth in the IT consulting space.
Cons: Compensation just isn't competitive with big tech companies. I've found base salaries for a remote position aren't as strong as I'd hoped, especially after seeing others' offers. It's tough to get significant raises too, so expect slow growth there.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously review compensation bands for all levels. Matching big tech, especially for senior software development talent, would really help retention. Focus on better pay increases and not just benefits.

Work-life balance can be a struggle here
Pros: You definitely work with some super smart folks, which is great for learning. The **remote work** option is solid and can offer some flexibility when projects aren't crazy. You get exposure to a ton of different tech stacks in **Agile consulting**.
Cons: Honestly, as a **Senior Software Consultant**, client demands often push you way past 40 hours. It's tough to consistently log off and have a personal life. There's an expectation to always be available, especially with different time zones.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to empower project managers to protect team capacity. Push back on unreasonable client demands more often to prevent burnout.

Decent Place, But Job Security is a Concern
Pros: I got to work on some interesting software development projects as a Senior Software Engineer, which was cool. The hybrid work model from the Chicago office was a definite plus for flexibility. You can really learn a lot of new tech stacks here too.
Cons: Job security is a real issue right now after the recent layoffs. It feels like things are pretty uncertain, and that's stressful for everyone. It makes you wary about long-term career planning in this big tech environment.
Advice to Management: More transparency around financial health and future hiring plans would really help. Clearer communication about how you're supporting employees during these uncertain times is key.

Solid place for learning, but watch out.
Pros: You learn a ton here as a Senior Software Consultant. The technical bar is high, which really pushes you. There's good exposure to different clients and technologies in the software development space.
Cons: Career growth can feel a bit slow after a certain point. It's not always clear how to get promoted, especially for more senior tech consulting roles. Sometimes you feel stuck on a client project too long, even if you want a change.
Advice to Management: Make career progression paths more transparent, especially for consultants past the principal level. Give people more control over project assignments to help with skill diversification.

Good people, but flexibility has limits.
Pros: I like the general openness and the chance to work remotely a couple days a week; that's a solid perk. For a big tech consulting firm, they do encourage knowledge sharing and growth among employees.
Cons: The hybrid model can be restrictive for lead consultant roles; you're often tied to specific client sites or the Chicago office. It's tough when client needs demand different work arrangements for custom software development.
Advice to Management: Consider more genuinely flexible arrangements for long-term client engagements, especially for senior roles. The hybrid policy isn't always practical.
