Pay is decent, but could be better for the industry
Pros: The benefits package is pretty solid. We get a good pension match, which is nice. For those in the London office, the hybrid work model offers good flexibility, which helps with work-life balance.
Cons: The salary for Civil Engineer roles feels a bit low compared to the broader UK engineering consultancy market. Annual raises aren't huge, so it's hard to keep up with inflation. Don't expect big bonuses.
Advice to Management: Review the base salaries for core technical roles to be more competitive in the engineering industry. More transparent salary bands would help. Also, consider more substantial performance bonuses.

Leadership can be a mixed bag here
Pros: Some project managers are great, really supportive. They help you learn the ropes on big infrastructure projects. It's good to have that guidance for junior engineering roles.
Cons: Higher-ups often feel out of touch with the day-to-day for us Civil Engineers. Decisions come down from corporate without much context. It's tough to get clear direction sometimes in the London office, especially with the hybrid work model.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the teams on the ground. Be clearer about company strategy and how it impacts day-to-day engineering tasks.

Hybrid Model is Decent, But Not Truly Flexible
Pros: I've been working as a Junior Structural Engineer here, and the hybrid model for work arrangement is a plus. We get a couple of WFH days, which is helpful. It's better than being onsite five days a week, for sure.
Cons: The problem is, it's not very flexible beyond those set days. If you need more flexibility for personal stuff, it's a tough conversation. For a large engineering firm, you'd hope for more trust in remote productivity.
Advice to Management: Give teams more autonomy over their work arrangements. The current hybrid model in the Stockholm office feels a bit rigid. Trust employees more with their remote work schedule.
