Solid Place for Fintech, But Culture Shifts
Pros: I've found the work challenging and engaging as a Software Engineer. The compensation is good, especially for the fintech industry. There are really smart people here; you learn a lot.
Cons: The culture isn't what it used to be, frankly. It's harder to feel connected in a remote environment these days. Sometimes, team communication could definitely be better.
Advice to Management: Focus on building stronger remote connection and team cohesion. Invest in better tools for distributed teams to prevent silos and improve communication.

Okay work-life balance for tech startup
Pros: Flexibility is good; I could work hybrid from the Mountain View office a couple days a week. As a Software Engineer, I usually hit my sprint goals without too much overtime. Team leads generally respect boundaries, which is a plus in financial technology.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines are really tight, leading to some late nights. It's a startup, so there's always a lot to do; you have to actively protect your evenings. Work-life balance can swing a lot depending on your specific team's roadmap.
Advice to Management: Keep an eye on project scope creep and encourage teams to take proper breaks. Burnout is real in the financial technology space.

Leadership needs to step up, especially in FinTech
Pros: I've learned a ton working here, especially on complex wealth management software. The engineering teams are solid, and the pay for a Software Engineer is competitive. The New York office has decent perks too, and the hybrid work model is fine.
Cons: Leadership can be pretty disconnected from day-to-day operations. There's often a real lack of clear direction from the top. Decisions change fast, which makes project planning tough for teams. It's hard to trust the overall strategy sometimes.
Advice to Management: Listen more to your engineering leads and middle management. Provide consistent strategic vision across the board instead of constant pivots. Improve communication channels from top-down.
