Okay flexibility for a fast-paced startup
Pros: You get some WFH days, which is nice for personal appointments. As a Software Engineer, I appreciate not having to be in the New York office five days a week. The option to adjust hours slightly for early starts is a plus.
Cons: The hybrid work model isn't as flexible as it seems, with set in-office days. It's tough if you have an unexpected issue. More trust for remote work days would help. Sometimes it feels like they track login times too closely.
Advice to Management: Trust employees more with their time and be genuinely flexible with the hybrid policy. Recognize that a data security startup still needs to offer modern work arrangements to attract top talent.

Decent work-life balance for a growing startup
Pros: You can really make your own schedule, especially working remote from Texas. For Data Engineer roles, the team is pretty understanding if you need to step away for a bit. The focus on building a solid data security platform means interesting, steady work.
Cons: Sometimes the workload for a cybersecurity startup can get intense, especially near product launches. You'll have occasional late nights, which isn't ideal if you're looking for strict 40-hour weeks.
Advice to Management: Try to even out the workload spikes a bit more, especially for remote employees. It'd help prevent burnout during crunch times and improve overall morale.

Decent benefits, but base pay needs work
Pros: The health benefits are pretty solid for a cybersecurity startup. They offer good medical plans. Plus, the equity package for a Security Engineer looked promising when I joined.
Cons: Base salary compensation isn't super competitive, especially for the Austin, TX market. The bonus structure felt a bit unclear and didn't really move the needle much. There's also no 401k match, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the base salary ranges, especially for technical roles like Security Engineer. Consider implementing a 401k matching program to be more competitive in the cybersecurity industry.
