Hybrid model has its ups and downs
Pros: They do offer a hybrid model, which is nice. You get a couple of remote days a week for engineering roles, which helps avoid the Torrance traffic. It's a decent step for a corporate environment.
Cons: The flexibility can feel a bit limited for a big company. There's pressure to be onsite more often, especially during critical turbocharger development phases. True remote work isn't really an option here.
Advice to Management: Really commit to the hybrid model or offer more clear paths for remote work for specific roles. Trust your employees more for non-physical tasks.

Decent Work-Life, But Depends on Your Project
Pros: For a large corporate company like Garrett, the hybrid model helped a lot. When you're not on a critical project, I could usually stick to 40-hour weeks as a Design Engineer. There's some flexibility for appointments.
Cons: Project deadlines in the turbocharger industry often mean late nights. You sometimes have to work weekends to hit targets, especially for new product launches. This definitely impacted my work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project timelines better to avoid constant crunch mode for engineering roles. More realistic deadlines would improve retention.

Work-Life Balance is Manageable, With Caveats
Pros: The hybrid schedule was pretty helpful for my work-life balance, especially living near the Torrance, CA office. For engineering roles, you generally stick to 40 hours most weeks. It's a solid corporate environment with decent job security.
Cons: During big project deadlines, especially in the automotive industry, expect longer hours. It can be tough to maintain personal commitments then. Consistency really varies team to team, which impacts work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the project timelines to reduce the intense crunch periods. It would greatly improve employee retention and overall work-life satisfaction.
