Pros: Skydio's hybrid work policy is pretty good for a robotics startup in the drone industry. As a Software Engineer, I've had solid work-from-home options, which really helps manage my day. They trust you to get your work done without constant micromanagement.
Cons: However, the flexibility can really vary by manager or specific project, especially for roles focused on hardware for autonomous flight. Some teams in the Redwood City office feel almost entirely on-site, making consistent WFH tricky. It's not a blanket policy across all engineering roles.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid work expectations across all departments and managers. Make sure all engineering roles have similar options, not just certain teams. Consistent policy would boost morale.

Pros: It's cool to work on autonomous drones. The engineering teams are really smart, and you learn a ton in robotics. We had decent perks at the San Mateo office too.
Cons: The startup culture meant long hours, sometimes over 50-60 hour weeks. Work-life balance was tough for a Robotics Software Engineer. There's pressure to hit aggressive deadlines.
Advice to Management: Try to ease up on the aggressive deadlines a bit. Support better work-life balance for the engineering teams, especially since the work is so demanding in the San Mateo office.
