Job Security Feels A Bit Shaky At Circles
Pros: The pay is solid for an engineer at a mid-sized tech company, and I've definitely picked up some good skills in modern web development. Plus, being able to work completely remote is super flexible, which I appreciate a lot.
Cons: Honestly, job security here feels a bit shaky. There's been a lot of restructuring, and as a remote engineer, you sometimes feel a bit exposed. The constant project pivots also make you question long-term stability in the current tech landscape.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent about long-term company strategy and how it affects different teams and roles. It would help ease concerns about job security, especially for those of us working remote.

Good for initial learning, then growth stalls
Pros: I started as a Junior Software Engineer and picked up a lot of new skills quickly. The remote work setup from Austin, TX was super flexible, which was a huge plus. It's a decent place to get your foot in the tech industry door and build a base.
Cons: Career growth here is definitely a big issue for individual contributors. There's just no clear path for promotions or moving up the ladder. You end up doing the same tasks for ages in this startup environment, which gets frustrating.
Advice to Management: Seriously, you need to build out clearer career ladders for all roles, especially engineering. Regular check-ins on career aspirations and skill development would make a huge difference.

Decent flexibility, but watch for crunch periods.
Pros: There are pretty solid remote work options here for software development roles. As a Software Engineer, I could often work from home a few days a week. They're generally understanding if you need to adjust your daily schedule.
Cons: Sometimes "flexibility" just means working odd hours to meet deadlines. It's a startup, so you can't always count on a strict 9-5 day. Onsite meetings in the Austin, TX office were sometimes mandatory, even for remote team members.
Advice to Management: Try to set clearer boundaries on what "flexible" hours truly means. It'd help a lot with burnout, especially for junior engineers.
