Software Engineer

Great Environment for Software Engineers in Semiconductor
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time here as a Software Engineer. The team is incredibly supportive, and there's a strong emphasis on collaboration. You get to work on interesting projects in the semiconductor industry, which keeps things engaging. I also appreciate the focus on a healthy work-life balance; they generally respect personal time and help avoid burnout, which is a big plus in this industry.
Cons: While the learning opportunities are great, the career progression can feel a bit slow sometimes. It'd be nice to see clearer paths for advancement, especially for mid-level engineers. Also, communication across different departments could be smoother to avoid occasional bottlenecks and make project coordination more efficient.
Advice to Management: Focus on defining clearer career progression paths and improving inter-departmental communication to streamline workflows and boost overall efficiency for our engineering teams.

Okay Work-Life, Tough for Chip Design Engineers
Pros: I liked getting to work on some really interesting RF ICs, which is a big draw in the semiconductor industry. The hybrid work model was a decent perk, giving me some flexibility. Colleagues in the Carlsbad, CA office were mostly supportive and smart.
Cons: Honestly, the work-life balance for an ASIC Design Engineer here isn't great during project crunch times. You often work 50-60 hour weeks, which really takes a toll. There's an expectation to be online late sometimes, especially when coordinating with teams in different time zones.
Advice to Management: Management should really try to protect engineers' personal time more, especially during crunch times. Maybe better project planning could reduce the need for constant overtime for the hardware engineering roles.
