Retail Sales Associate

Steady work for an Ontario retailer
Pros: As a Retail Sales Associate, the job security is a big plus. It's a government crown corporation, so there's a lot of stability here compared to private retail. You get pretty reliable hours and decent union benefits for onsite work.
Cons: Career growth for frontline roles can feel slow. It's not always easy to move up unless you're willing to relocate to other Ontario locations. Sometimes the management structure feels a bit bureaucratic.
Advice to Management: Try to create more clear paths for internal mobility and skill development for your dedicated retail staff. It would help with employee retention.

Stable job, but don't expect fast promotions
Pros: LCBO offers solid job security, which is a huge plus. As a Customer Service Representative, you get decent benefits thanks to the union. It's a stable government agency in the alcohol retail industry, so it's not going anywhere.
Cons: Career growth is really slow here, especially for onsite retail roles. It's tough to move up, even with experience in this public sector environment. Promotions often feel seniority-based, not always merit-based, in Ontario.
Advice to Management: They really need to look at how people get promoted. Make it clearer for employees to see a future here. Offer more training for advancement, not just for basic tasks.

Leadership is hit or miss in retail
Pros: Good benefits for a part-time retail job in the alcoholic beverages industry. Some team leads were really supportive and helped with customer service issues. Flexible scheduling was decent for my student life.
Cons: Leadership quality really varied by store and manager. There's not much room for career growth for frontline staff. Some senior management felt disconnected from the daily onsite store operations.
Advice to Management: Invest more in developing consistent leadership skills across all levels. Frontline staff need better opportunities for career advancement, not just endless retail shifts.
