Community Engagement Specialist

Okay for now, limited growth as a Community Specialist
Pros: I liked the mission; it's genuinely impactful work in the non-profit tech space. The team here in the San Francisco office is super collaborative and supportive. You get a lot of autonomy as a Community Engagement Specialist, which is cool for project ownership.
Cons: Career growth is tough here, especially for dedicated community roles. There aren't many clear paths to advance past a certain point, even after hitting performance targets. Raises aren't huge either; my base was around $60k after two years, which is hard in San Francisco.
Advice to Management: Develop clearer progression paths for Community Engagement Specialist and other non-technical roles. Invest more in professional development and consider more competitive compensation, especially for San Francisco living costs.

Project Manager

Okay Pay, but Mission-Driven Work is a Plus
Pros: The mission really drives you; you feel like you're doing something good in the social impact sector. Remote work is a huge plus, giving Project Managers a lot of flexibility. They do offer solid health benefits, which is decent for a startup.
Cons: The pay scale for a Project Manager isn't super competitive, especially if you're remote from California. Don't expect big bonuses or huge annual raises here. The overall compensation package could use some work to retain talent long-term.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing salary bands to be more competitive, especially for experienced Project Managers. More transparency around pay scales would help with retention.
