Stable Environment with Good Learning Opportunities
Pros: As a Materials Engineer, I value the professional development opportunities in the materials testing field. My Houston, TX team is incredibly supportive. Element is a stable, global independent TIC company offering good job security.
Cons: Career progression for engineers can be slow; promotions aren't always quick. Also, internal communication could improve for better cross-departmental efficiency.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing the career progression paths, especially for technical roles like engineers, to ensure promotions reflect employee development more proactively. Also, actively work on improving inter-departmental communication.

Decent Work-Life for an Onsite Lab Tech
Pros: The hours are generally predictable for onsite work, usually 40 hours a week. My team is pretty good about not pushing for too much weekend work unless it's critical. There's a solid benefits package.
Cons: Sometimes, for urgent materials testing projects, you can get stuck working late. It's not super flexible if you need to adjust your schedule often. Vacation requests can be tough to get approved during busy seasons.
Advice to Management: Try to ensure more consistent staffing across all materials testing departments. This would help prevent burnout and make work-life balance better for everyone, especially for Lab Technician roles, even during peak product qualification periods.

Solid place for Materials Engineering
Pros: I liked the chance to learn a lot as a Materials Engineer. There's good exposure to different testing methods in the laboratory environment. The team in the Greenville, SC office was mostly supportive, especially when I first started out.
Cons: The company culture can feel a bit corporate and slow sometimes. It's hard to get new ideas approved, and things move really slowly for a global company. Also, some departments don't really talk to each other much.
Advice to Management: Management should really try to foster more cross-department collaboration. Break down those silos. Also, be more open to new ideas from junior engineers; it would really help innovation in our materials testing services.
