Great Place for Growth in Travel Tech
Pros: Working at Expedia Group as a Software Engineer has been a really positive experience. I've learned a ton here, especially diving deep into distributed systems for travel technology. There are fantastic learning opportunities, and I feel supported by my team and management. The hybrid work model in Seattle is great for balance.
Cons: Sometimes, the processes for new initiatives can feel a bit slow due to the size of the company. It's not a deal-breaker, but it means getting things approved can take time.
Advice to Management: Keep working on streamlining internal processes to empower teams to move faster. Clarity around long-term strategic goals from leadership would also be beneficial.

Solid place for career development in travel tech
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time as a Software Engineer at Expedia Group in Seattle. It's a fantastic place for learning and working with smart, supportive colleagues in travel tech. There are new technologies to explore, which keeps things interesting. The hybrid work model is a huge plus for flexibility.
Cons: The promotion process can feel a bit slow sometimes. Communication from upper leadership could be more consistent, which would help us understand the bigger picture more clearly across such a large company.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining the promotion pathways and improving overall leadership communication across different departments to maintain employee engagement and clear direction in a large, distributed organization.

Decent work-life balance in big tech
Pros: Work-life balance here is generally good, especially for Software Engineer roles. We have a solid hybrid work model, so I'm not always in the Seattle office. Teams usually respect boundaries, which is nice in big tech.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines get tough, and you'll work extra. There's not much flexibility for fully remote, which can be a bummer. The travel industry can have unexpected surges, impacting workload.
Advice to Management: Offer more options for fully remote work for certain roles. Try to smooth out those peak season workloads better.
