Field Service Technician
3.0

Decent place, but not super flexible for onsite roles.
Pros: The work itself can be pretty engaging, especially if you like hands-on problem-solving. For Field Service Technician roles, you do get some autonomy over your daily route after dispatch. They provide good training for healthcare technology management, which is a big plus.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't great if you're out in the field. You're always on call or have a tight schedule, so WFH isn't an option. It's tough to adjust your day if personal stuff comes up, which can really impact work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more support or resources for field employees struggling with unpredictable schedules. Maybe better on-call rotation or more local backup techs. It would really help with employee retention in our critical medical equipment services.

Biomedical Equipment Technician

Leadership can be a real mixed bag
Pros: I had a few solid direct managers in the Minneapolis office who really supported the field service teams. They generally understood the unique demands of medical equipment services. There's a decent focus on safety protocols for our onsite role, which is important.
Cons: Leadership above the direct managers often feels out of touch. Communication from the large corporate structure is frequently disconnected from what we actually do daily as a Biomedical Equipment Technician. New initiatives often feel rushed without proper training or clear direction.
Advice to Management: Upper management needs to genuinely listen to the Biomedical Equipment Technicians and the field teams. Really understand our day-to-day challenges and involve us in planning before rolling out big changes. Better communication and more realistic timelines would help a lot.
