Solid Place for Automotive Tech Career Growth
Pros: Working at FORVIA as a Software Engineer has been a really positive experience. I appreciate the collaborative environment; my colleagues are always willing to help and share knowledge, which is great for learning new things in the automotive technology space. The company's focus on innovation keeps things interesting, and I feel like there are good opportunities to develop my skills and career. It's a stable company with a global presence, offering a hybrid work arrangement.
Cons: Sometimes the internal approval processes for new projects or changes can feel a bit slow, which can be frustrating when you're trying to move fast. Also, like any large company in the automotive industry, there are periods where the workload can get pretty high, especially around product launches. It's manageable, but something to be aware of.
Advice to Management: Streamline some of the internal approval workflows to empower teams to execute more quickly on innovative projects. Continued investment in employee development programs would also be greatly appreciated.

Okay Pay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: The base salary for a Manufacturing Engineer is decent, especially for entry-level roles in the Michigan plant. They have a solid 401k match which is a plus, and health insurance is standard. It's a big, stable automotive supplier.
Cons: Annual raises aren't very competitive, so your pay doesn't grow fast. It's tough to negotiate a higher base once you're in, and the healthcare plan deductibles are a bit high. Don't expect much in terms of unique perks.
Advice to Management: Review the annual raise structure and consider improving the healthcare benefits to attract and retain top talent in the competitive automotive manufacturing sector.

FORVIA: Good experience but job stability issues.
Pros: I learned a ton as a Manufacturing Engineer here. It's a global company, so you get exposed to big projects in automotive parts manufacturing. The pay and benefits in the Detroit office were decent for the industry.
Cons: Job security really wasn't great. There's always restructuring happening, which makes you feel a bit on edge. It's hard to feel secure when you hear about production shifts and potential layoffs constantly.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about the company's long-term plans and try to offer more stability, particularly for key engineering roles.
