NAVSUP's mission is to provide supplies, services, and quality-of-life support to the Navy and Joint warfighter. We manage supply chains that provide material for Navy aircraft, surface ships, submarines and their associated weapon systems. We provide centralized inventory management of the Navy's non-nuclear ordnance stockpile. We provide a wide range of base operating and waterfront logistics support services, coordinating material deliveries, contracting for supplies and services, and providing material management and warehousing services.

We are responsible for many of the Quality of Life programs that touch the lives of Sailors and their families every day, including Navy Exchanges, Navy Lodges, the Navy Personal Property Program, and the Navy Postal System. We administer the Navy Food Service Program, with responsibility for the policies and procedures that govern the day to day operations of general messes afloat and ashore.

Our employees receive many benefits, including paid holidays, access to good health, life and long-term care insurance policies, generous amounts of both annual and sick leave, a 401(k) retirement plan (the Federal Thrift Savings Plan, in which the government matching program can be as much as five percent of the employee’s salary), flexible work schedules, and various tuition assistance packages. Salaries are competitive. Plus, most NAVSUP sites include on-base day care centers, credit unions, eateries, discounted tour and ticket offices, free fitness centers and other recreational facilities.

Super Stable Federal Job, But Slow Pace
Pros: Job security is definitely the biggest perk working here, especially as a Logistics Specialist. Being part of a federal government organization means you don't really worry about unexpected layoffs. It's a solid, stable career path if you're settled in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Cons: The stability often comes with a really slow pace for promotions. Career progression isn't quick, and some of the processes feel super bureaucratic. If you're looking for rapid change or quick jumps in your role, this isn't it.
Advice to Management: Management should try to streamline promotion paths and acknowledge high-performing employees more visibly. It would really help with overall morale and keep good people engaged.
