Solid Work-Life, but Demands Can Creep Up
Pros: The hybrid work model really helps balance things out. You get decent flexibility, which is great for a tech startup focusing on autonomous vehicle development. I generally found my hours as a Software Engineer to be around 40-45 hours a week.
Cons: Sometimes, project deadlines can unexpectedly make you work longer, especially when there's a big push. There's pressure to hit aggressive milestones in this industry, which occasionally impacts personal time. Weekend work isn't the norm, but it does pop up for urgent tasks.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scope and set clearer expectations regarding off-hours availability for the engineering teams. This could help prevent burnout during crunch times.

AV culture is okay, but leadership could do better
Pros: Working as a Senior Software Engineer here, the teams are really solid. Everyone's super smart and dedicated, especially in the autonomous vehicle industry. We actually get good work-life balance for software engineers, usually 40-45 hours a week in the hybrid Palo Alto office setup.
Cons: Honestly, there's too much micromanagement from leadership. It really saps team morale. Transparency isn't great, so you often feel out of the loop on big project shifts. It's tough to build trust when it feels like information is constantly held back.
Advice to Management: Try to trust your teams more and provide clearer communication from the top. Less micromanagement would go a long way in improving the overall environment.

Culture is decent but constantly shifting
Pros: The team camaraderie is solid, especially among engineers. I really liked my immediate teammates; we supported each other a lot in this tech industry role. It's a pretty inclusive environment, which is good.
Cons: There's a lot of management churn, which makes the company culture feel unstable. Upper leadership keeps changing direction, so it's hard to build lasting connections or processes. Some projects just get dropped, and as a Software Engineer, that's frustrating.
Advice to Management: Focus on providing consistent leadership and clear strategic direction. Stability would really help with employee morale and project completion.
