Pay's okay, but could be better
Pros: As an Account Executive here, the health benefits are pretty solid for the public relations industry. They offer a good 401k match, which is a nice perk. The hybrid model definitely helps save on commuting costs, too.
Cons: The base salary isn't super competitive, especially for early-career roles in a big city like the Chicago office. Raises are usually pretty small each year, even with good performance. It's tough to feel like you're earning what you're worth.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate compensation bands for all levels, especially junior to mid-level Account Executive roles, to stay competitive in the market. Consistent, larger merit increases would also boost morale and retention.

Decent Culture for a Big PR Agency
Pros: I really liked the people I worked with at Edelman. There's a strong team vibe, especially in the Chicago office. You get to learn a lot working in public relations here.
Cons: The culture can feel a bit competitive sometimes, and the hours are tough. As an Account Executive, it's easy to get burnt out trying to keep up. Work-life balance definitely suffers.
Advice to Management: Focus more on employee well-being and managing workloads better. It would really help retain talent in this demanding industry. People need more support.

Edelman: It's a Grind, But You Learn
Pros: For public relations roles, you do get to work on some big campaigns. There's a decent hybrid work model in the Chicago office, which helps with flexibility a bit. The teams are generally supportive, which makes long hours a bit more bearable sometimes.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough as a Senior Account Executive. Expect constant client demands and tight deadlines, especially for those in client servicing. You're often working late nights and weekends, which isn't ideal if you're looking for a 40-hour week.
Advice to Management: Management should really look at staffing levels to reduce the workload on current teams. We're stretched thin, and it impacts our ability to deliver quality work without burning out. Encourage more strict boundaries around client communication after hours.
