Great Team, Good Experience in Hospitality
Pros: I've really enjoyed my role as a Guest Services Associate at JW Marriott in Miami. The team spirit is fantastic, truly making the hotel industry feel like a community. It's a stable company where you can really learn and grow your hospitality skills. The company culture fosters supportive colleagues and a professional environment.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough during peak seasons, leading to longer shifts. While career growth opportunities exist, the progression feels a bit slow sometimes in such a large organization.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in employee development programs and look for ways to improve work-life balance, especially during peak operational times, to retain talent. Clearer paths for internal promotions would also be beneficial.

Work-Life Balance is Okay for Front Desk Staff
Pros: I did get some flexibility with my schedule as a Front Desk Agent if I planned ahead. The hotel industry can be tough, but management sometimes worked with us on requests for time off, which was good.
Cons: The work-life balance isn't always great, especially during peak seasons in Orlando, FL. You're usually doing onsite work, which means long shifts and weekend commitments are common for guest services.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more consistent schedules for onsite workers and acknowledge the demands of the hotel industry on personal lives. Burnout is real.

Tough to Get Flexible Shifts in Hospitality
Pros: They do a solid job with benefits for a large hotel chain, which is nice. You get a set schedule once it's made, so you know what to expect for your onsite shifts. It's stable work if you're looking for a steady gig in the hotel industry.
Cons: Work flexibility is pretty tough for Front Desk Agent roles here in Miami, FL. Swapping shifts or getting time off last minute feels impossible sometimes, which can be a real pain. You're expected to be 100% onsite; remote work isn't an option at all for these positions.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to offer more flexibility for staff, especially for those in guest services. Even a little more understanding for shift changes would boost morale big time.
