Pros: You can sometimes swap shifts with coworkers, which is good for those unexpected things. For onsite lab roles like mine, it's not super flexible, but they do try to accommodate vacation requests if you plan ahead. The healthcare industry generally has stable hours.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough for Clinical Lab Scientists due to required shift work. There's not much remote work for most lab roles; you're pretty much onsite. It can be hard to get a consistent schedule.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more predictable scheduling or incentive programs for less desirable shifts. Think about creative ways to offer even small bits of flexibility for onsite diagnostic testing teams.

Pros: You're surrounded by other professionals doing important work in our Burlington, NC labs. As a Medical Technologist, you learn a lot about various clinical diagnostics. It's a stable job in a large corporate environment, which is nice for long-term career planning.
Cons: The culture can feel very siloed between departments. There's not much cross-team collaboration, which gets frustrating. Sometimes it feels like just a number here, not a valued team member.
Advice to Management: Try to foster more inter-departmental connections. Maybe some team-building beyond just your direct report.

Pros: The health insurance is pretty comprehensive, and the 401k match is decent for a company of this size. I appreciate the variety of employee wellness programs offered too.
Cons: Compensation for Medical Technologists could definitely use an increase; it's tough to feel valued sometimes. Raises are usually pretty small, making it hard to keep up with inflation in the local area.
Advice to Management: Consider increasing base salaries for critical onsite roles like Medical Technologists to improve retention and attract top talent in the diagnostics field.
