Job Overview
Plan A Technologies is looking for a
Backend Developer with experience in payments systems to join our team. In this role, you will focus on building, scaling, and maintaining high-performance transaction processing systems and backend infrastructure. While this is primarily a Backend position, full-stack capabilities are a welcome asset. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex financial and technical requirements into robust, secure, and production-ready code.
Please note: you must have at least 7+ years of experience with Golang to be considered for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, reliable backend services for transaction processing, ledgers, and financial integrations.
- Implement real-time data pipelines, manage event-driven architectures, and optimize relational database schemas.
- Design and manage distributed, containerized cron jobs and background workflows for processing scheduled financial data.
- Identify system bottlenecks, optimize end-to-end application performance, and ensure high availability of core services.
- Partner with product managers, finance teams, and other engineering stakeholders to deliver comprehensive, high-quality software solutions.
Experience
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience developing backend systems using Go (Golang).
- Proven experience working with event streaming and message brokers using Kafka.
- Demonstrated experience handling relational databases, complex schema design, and query optimization using PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience designing and managing containerized scheduled tasks using Kubernetes (K8s) cron.
- Core expertise in building backend systems, with Full-Stack (FS) capability considered a strong plus.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Initiative and drive to do great things.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with payments and financial platforms such as Stripe, NetSuite, or Oracle.
- Experience with cloud-native monitoring and observability platforms like Chronosphere.
- Proficiency with Java (backend) or React (frontend).
