What The Role Is
Singapore needs to undergo continuous transformation as a city to meet the changing aspirations of Singaporeans, and create opportunities for economic growth. As our demographic shifts, we also need to rethink how our city is planned, designed and experienced. Research would help us understand our challenges going forward, develop solutions and pilot them.
What You Will Be Working On
You will investigate, scope and manage Research and Development (R&D) projects that have a strong focus on application to real world issues together with researchers and other government agencies. You will also be required to lead and oversee pilots and test-bedding of new innovations, solutions and outcomes from the R&D projects. We seek future-oriented, creative and inquisitive planners who will shape Singapore’s built environment for the future.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in / exposure to urban and regional planning, architecture, civil engineering, transport planning, environmental studies, building, real estate, sociology, geography, economics, political science, gerontology, public health or other related disciplines.
- Strong interest in the physical urban development of Singapore
- Passion for ageing, public health, urban liveability, healthy cities or related fields
- Relevant experience in research, as well as managing pilots and research projects will be useful
- Quick learners who are flexible and take initiative to think of new ideas and start projects, and are resilient in dealing with work challenges
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Competency in GIS analytics and programming tools (e.g. R and Python) would be viewed favourably, but not a pre-requisite
- Good presentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team is a must
Note: This is a 1-year contract position, and further extension will be dependent on work performance
