Solid Job Security for Singapore City Planners
Pros: The job security at URA is truly a big plus. As an Urban Planner, you feel very secure in your role within this government agency. The benefits package for Singapore office employees is also quite good, with a steady 40-hour work week usually.
Cons: Things can move pretty slowly here sometimes, which can be frustrating. It's a large public sector organization, so expect some bureaucracy. Career growth for city development roles might feel a bit rigid.
Advice to Management: Try to streamline processes a bit more to speed up project execution. Encouraging more dynamic career paths for specialized planning roles would also help boost morale.

URA: Good Experience, but Growth Can Be Slow
Pros: You get hands-on experience with major master plans and infrastructure development projects in Singapore, which is great for building a strong portfolio. There's a decent amount of training and workshops available for urban planning professionals.
Cons: Career progression for planning roles can feel a bit slow and bureaucratic. It's hard to move up quickly without a lot of seniority. Sometimes internal mobility to different departments isn't straightforward.
Advice to Management: Consider clearer pathways for career advancement within specific urban planning teams. More opportunities for cross-departmental projects would also boost skill development for employees.
