Company Reviews

Ashford Benjamin is a leading executive search firm, our specialisms include Legal, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Internal Audit. Many of our projects are retained, confidential searches for notable law firms, financial institutions, and other commercial entities, targeted on finding the highest calibre lawyers and compliance professionals for key, senior vacancies.

We were founded with the belief that search firms should offer a better service to clients and candidates. This means taking the time to provide a genuine partnership, understanding our clients’ and candidates’ needs, and pro-actively advising on the best course of action, utilising the decades of experience we have in the legal and compliance search industry.

Our mission was to create a new type of search firm. One that combines responsiveness with thorough analysis, knowledge and intellectual rigour, to provide an accurate, comprehensive service. A search firm that is not afraid to question the purpose in each search, and work collaboratively to ensure the best outcome for all confirmed. A search firm that is not afraid to advise professionals to stay where they are, if that is the best course of action for their long term goals. A search firm that has the flexibility to offer a genuinely bespoke consultancy service.

To do this, we employ recognised legal and compliance industry experts, with a reputation for integrity and a genuine passion for providing the best service in the market. Our people are judged on the quality of service they provide, which is monitored through feedback from both employers and job-seekers, and the number of successful, long-term placements they make, not by metrics that only benefit the search firm. We believe our success stems from passionately upholding the beliefs and values we have developed over decades of serving our clients and candidates’ needs.

Decent Job Security for Recruiting Roles
Pros: The client base is pretty solid, which helps with job security in the recruiting industry. As an Account Manager, I've felt pretty secure with my position. The New York office has seen consistent, if not rapid, growth.
Cons: Sometimes there's pressure to hit aggressive targets, which can feel a bit shaky if you're not consistently closing deals. It's not always super transparent about future company plans or market shifts. Job security here could be more transparent.
Advice to Management: Keep improving communication about future company direction and market strategy. It helps us feel more secure, especially for staffing roles in a changing market.

Solid Comp for a Recruitment Consultant
Pros: The commission structure is actually pretty good, especially as a Recruitment Consultant. If you hit your targets in the New York City office, you can make decent money. Health insurance benefits are solid too.
Cons: The base salary isn't anything to write home about, it's pretty standard for the recruitment industry. Don't expect huge bonuses unless you're a top performer. PTO could be better too, it feels a bit stingy.
Advice to Management: Think about increasing the base salary slightly to attract more talent. Also, a bit more PTO would go a long way for employee morale.
