Culture's Fine, But It's Very Corporate
Pros: The teams you work with are generally solid. As a Software Engineer in the Colombo office, I've learned a lot about modern digital transformation projects. There are definitely opportunities to work on interesting IT services tech.
Cons: The company culture can feel a bit rigid. It's a big corporate environment, so decision-making is pretty slow. Sometimes there's not much room for true innovation in your daily work.
Advice to Management: Try to foster a more agile mindset and empower teams more. Cut down on some of the red tape.

Decent flexibility for some, but it varies
Pros: As a software engineer here, I've had some decent work flexibility, especially compared to other places in the telecom industry. It's nice to have some say in project timelines and often work hybrid from the Colombo office. The option to occasionally WFH is a big plus for personal stuff.
Cons: But honestly, work flexibility isn't consistent across all teams. Some managers are stricter, so you can't always just WFH when you need to. It depends a lot on your direct supervisor and what digital solutions project you're on, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize work flexibility policies across all teams and departments. It would really help with employee morale and reduce inconsistencies.

Fine place for software engineers
Pros: You learn a lot here, especially working on big digital transformation projects for major telco clients. The teams are generally smart and it's a good environment to pick up new tech skills as a Software Engineer.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough; expect some long weeks, especially with project deadlines. The corporate feel sometimes slows things down, and internal processes aren't always clear.
Advice to Management: Try to improve the work-life balance for all engineering roles and make career progression more transparent. Clear communication about project scope helps a lot.

Good Place for Learning, Culture is Okay
Pros: I've learned a ton about digital transformation and IT solutions here. The teams are mostly collaborative, especially in the Colombo, Sri Lanka office. They support you picking up new skills for tech roles.
Cons: Sometimes the company culture feels a bit too corporate. There's a lot of bureaucracy that slows things down, which is frustrating. Work-life balance can get tough if you're not careful with deadlines.
Advice to Management: Try to cut down on the red tape. Empower teams more so we can move faster and really innovate on these IT solutions.

Leadership needs a clearer vision, honestly.
Pros: I really appreciate my colleagues. As a Software Engineer, I get to work with some truly talented people, and the team collaboration is solid. The company does offer a decent hybrid work model, which is helpful for managing personal life. We get exposure to real challenges in the digital solutions space.
Cons: Upper leadership struggles with consistent communication and often lacks a clear, long-term strategy. It feels like decisions are sometimes reactive rather than proactive. This makes career growth paths murky, especially for mid-level roles in the Colombo office.
Advice to Management: Work on defining and communicating a consistent, long-term vision for Axiata Digital Labs. Empower your middle managers more and be transparent about company goals. A little more proactivity would go a long way.

Decent place for entry-level, but career path unclear
Pros: It's a solid place for freshers in software development roles to learn the ropes. You get exposure to various telecom and digital solutions projects. The hybrid model offers decent work flexibility in the Colombo office.
Cons: Career growth here is tough for mid-level Software Engineers. There's not much upward movement once you're past the junior stage. Mentorship isn't consistent, and formal training for advanced technical roles is rare.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing clearer career paths and consistent mentorship programs for technical roles. Invest in specialized training for experienced engineers to retain talent.
