Software Engineer

Solid Stability for Remote Engineering Work
Pros: Job security here is pretty good for the space tech industry. They don't do massive, unexpected layoffs. As a Software Engineer working remotely, I always felt secure in my role, which is a big plus.
Cons: While secure, career growth can feel really slow for engineering roles. You might be doing the same thing for a while. Also, sometimes projects get put on hold unexpectedly, which isn't great for motivation.
Advice to Management: Try to provide clearer paths for career growth and promotion, especially for long-term engineering talent. More communication about project changes would help, too.

Okay for learning, but work flexibility is tough
Pros: It's a really solid place to learn, especially as a new Software Engineer. You get to work on interesting cloud technologies. The pay and benefits are pretty good for a big tech firm, which is a plus.
Cons: The work flexibility here isn't great. We're expected in the San Francisco office three days a week. This makes remote work difficult for a lot of us. It's tough when your commute is long.
Advice to Management: Seriously reconsider the hybrid model. A little more trust and flexibility for employees would go a long way, especially for Software Engineer roles.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: The team I worked with directly was solid. I learned a ton about agile development and building scalable software solutions. Plus, the hybrid work option was pretty good for my work-life balance.
Cons: Upper management can feel pretty disconnected from day-to-day operations. There's often a lack of clear direction, especially for us junior software engineers. Decisions sometimes feel top-down without much input from the ground.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent with decisions. Listen more to the teams actually doing the work, especially regarding project scope and timelines.
