Leadership is a mixed bag, depends on your team
Pros: I liked that my immediate team lead was pretty decent, especially for us Data Centre Technicians. They really tried to support us with new data centre infrastructure tasks. It's a stable industry for onsite work too.
Cons: The biggest issue is definitely leadership higher up. It feels like they're disconnected from actual data centre operations on the ground in the London, UK office. Communication from corporate leadership can be super frustrating, often changing direction.
Advice to Management: Upper management needs to spend more time understanding the challenges faced by onsite staff and frontline data centre technicians. Improve communication and decision-making transparency.

Onsite Role, Not Much Flex for Data Centre Techs
Pros: For a Data Center Technician, the shifts are pretty clear cut once you're on a pattern. You know your hours and don't usually get called in randomly. Sometimes you can swap shifts with colleagues if you plan ahead, which helps a bit with work-life balance.
Cons: Don't expect much work flexibility here, especially if you're in an operational role. It's an entirely onsite work environment in London, UK. Remote work isn't really an option for maintaining server racks and network infrastructure. The shift patterns can be a bit tough.
Advice to Management: Consider if any minor administrative tasks could be done remotely for a few hours a week to offer a tiny bit of flexibility. Also, review the shift patterns to see if there's room for improvement to support better work-life balance for data centre operations staff.

Leadership has some real potential here
Pros: The onsite team is fantastic. We really support each other, which helps when things get hectic with IT infrastructure issues. You learn a ton if you're proactive, especially for data center roles.
Cons: Management can be pretty inconsistent. There's often a lack of communication from the top, making strategic shifts feel random. It's frustrating trying to get clear decisions from leadership.
Advice to Management: Work on clearer communication channels across all levels. Managers need better training on how to delegate and give consistent feedback to the onsite team. Be more transparent with strategic goals.

Decent place, but work-life balance can be tough
Pros: The team in the Dublin office is solid, and you learn a ton about data centre operations and critical infrastructure. It's a pretty stable job within the IT industry, which is a big plus for job security.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tricky for Data Centre Technician roles, especially with on-call rotations; I've often worked 50+ hour weeks. There's not much work flexibility, so onsite presence is a must. It can definitely lead to burnout if you're not careful.
Advice to Management: Seriously look into staffing more adequately for the 24/7 data centre operations, especially for on-call shifts. Better resource planning would prevent a lot of technician burnout and improve overall morale.

Solid Job, But Not Much Flexibility
Pros: I liked the consistent shift schedule for data centre operations. It's good for planning your personal life once you're used to the routine. For an onsite role, they do allow shift swaps among colleagues if you really need it, which is a small perk.
Cons: Work flexibility is tough here. As a Data Centre Operations Technician, you're always onsite, which means zero remote work options. When issues with server racks or uptime arise, you can't just leave, even if your shift is technically over. It's a very corporate environment with strict adherence to schedules.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to offer more flexibility, even for onsite roles. Maybe more predictable on-call rotations or better compensation for extended hours during critical incidents. It would really help with morale for data centre staff.
