Work-Life Balance is a Mixed Bag
Pros: For those in academic roles within the higher education sector, work hours are often quite stable. There's also some good flexibility for personal appointments when needed. The onsite environment in Jakarta is generally decent, and you get to work with smart people.
Cons: As a Curriculum Developer, I've found it tough to maintain a good work-life balance. Project deadlines for e-learning development can be really demanding, often requiring extra hours. It feels like management expects you to be reachable constantly, even after official work hours.
Advice to Management: Please consider setting more realistic timelines for e-learning development projects. It would greatly improve employee well-being if we weren't constantly pushed to work overtime.

Decent place, but slow to change.
Pros: The people here are genuinely nice, especially other Lecturers in the Jakarta office. There's a solid sense of community, which helps a lot with student engagement. It's a large educational institution, so you feel part of something big.
Cons: Sometimes the corporate structure can feel a bit rigid. New ideas for curriculum development move really slowly through approval. It's tough when you're trying to innovate. Not much work flexibility for onsite staff.
Advice to Management: Try to empower departmental leads more. Speed up decision-making for new programs and innovation. Foster a culture that rewards proactive changes, especially in higher education.

BINUS culture is generally okay for academics
Pros: It's a pretty collaborative academic environment. As a Lecturer, I've found colleagues in the Jakarta office to be supportive. There's a good sense of community among the teaching staff here.
Cons: Upper management communication can be unclear sometimes. It feels like decision-making for a big education institution is a bit slow. Some policies feel outdated, which is tough for newer academic roles.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer, more transparent communication from the top down. Also, look into modernizing some of the operational processes, especially for an institution of this size in the higher education sector. It would really help staff retention.
