Solid Teams, Slow Pace for Educators
Pros: The teams are really supportive, especially as a Curriculum Developer. I've learned a lot from my colleagues. There's a decent sense of community in the Jakarta office; everyone helps each other out. The onsite work environment fosters good collaboration.
Cons: It's a large educational institution, so decisions can be slow. Sometimes, company culture feels a bit top-down, not enough feedback from the ground up. Innovation for new e-learning initiatives can get bogged down in bureaucracy. Work-life balance can be tough during peak project times.
Advice to Management: Listen more to employees on the ground, especially for new education technology projects. Try to streamline the approval process for new ideas.

Decent place, but slow to change.
Pros: The people here are genuinely nice, especially other Lecturers in the Jakarta office. There's a solid sense of community, which helps a lot with student engagement. It's a large educational institution, so you feel part of something big.
Cons: Sometimes the corporate structure can feel a bit rigid. New ideas for curriculum development move really slowly through approval. It's tough when you're trying to innovate. Not much work flexibility for onsite staff.
Advice to Management: Try to empower departmental leads more. Speed up decision-making for new programs and innovation. Foster a culture that rewards proactive changes, especially in higher education.

Job Security is Pretty Solid Here
Pros: As a Faculty Member, the job security feels very good. There aren't many layoffs in the university sector, so you generally feel safe. Long-term contracts for academic roles are common here, which is a big plus.
Cons: While secure, career growth can be slow sometimes for academic staff. Getting promoted or moving up the ladder can take years. The pay is decent, but it's not top-tier compared to some other industries in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Advice to Management: Try to create clearer paths for career advancement for us Faculty Members. Also, review compensation packages periodically to stay competitive in the higher education market.

Decent flexibility but varies by role
Pros: As a lecturer, I did get some WFH days for research, which was a plus. The educational institution does offer a hybrid model for some academic staff. It's nice not to be fully onsite in the Jakarta office all the time.
Cons: True flexibility isn't there for core teaching schedules; you're pretty much locked in. The 'hybrid' approach isn't consistently applied, so some departments have more freedom than others. It's not a truly remote-first company.
Advice to Management: Standardize hybrid policies across departments for all roles, not just select few. More autonomy for academic staff on scheduling would really help work-life balance.

BINUS culture is generally okay for academics
Pros: It's a pretty collaborative academic environment. As a Lecturer, I've found colleagues in the Jakarta office to be supportive. There's a good sense of community among the teaching staff here.
Cons: Upper management communication can be unclear sometimes. It feels like decision-making for a big education institution is a bit slow. Some policies feel outdated, which is tough for newer academic roles.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer, more transparent communication from the top down. Also, look into modernizing some of the operational processes, especially for an institution of this size in the higher education sector. It would really help staff retention.

Work-Life Balance is a Mixed Bag
Pros: For those in academic roles within the higher education sector, work hours are often quite stable. There's also some good flexibility for personal appointments when needed. The onsite environment in Jakarta is generally decent, and you get to work with smart people.
Cons: As a Curriculum Developer, I've found it tough to maintain a good work-life balance. Project deadlines for e-learning development can be really demanding, often requiring extra hours. It feels like management expects you to be reachable constantly, even after official work hours.
Advice to Management: Please consider setting more realistic timelines for e-learning development projects. It would greatly improve employee well-being if we weren't constantly pushed to work overtime.
