Stable Company, Good Pay & Benefits for Manufacturing Engineer
Pros: Working at Amcor as a Manufacturing Engineer in the packaging industry has been a solid experience. The company provides good job security, which is a big plus in manufacturing. I've found the pay and benefits package to be competitive, especially for our Chicago, IL facility. There are also decent opportunities for learning new skills and improving production processes. My team is generally supportive and collaborative, which makes the day-to-day enjoyable.
Cons: While it's a great place, career progression can feel a bit slow sometimes, particularly for an onsite role. Decision-making processes can also take longer than ideal, typical for a large, established manufacturing company, and I think internal communication could be streamlined for better efficiency.
Advice to Management: I'd suggest management focus on creating clearer and faster paths for career progression within the company. Also, look into streamlining internal communication channels and decision-making processes to improve overall efficiency and responsiveness.

Okay Benefits, But Pay Needs Work
Pros: The health insurance package is pretty solid for a big corporate like Amcor, definitely better than some other manufacturing sector jobs I've had. The 401k match is decent too; it adds up over time.
Cons: As a Packaging Engineer, the base pay in Oshkosh, Wisconsin feels low for the workload and responsibility. Raises aren't very common, and bonuses for rigid packaging roles are unpredictable.
Advice to Management: Seriously review the market rates for technical roles, especially for Packaging Engineers. More competitive base salaries and consistent bonus structures would make a huge difference in retention and morale.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: Some senior leaders are solid, especially in the Wisconsin plant. They care a lot about safety in the manufacturing sector. It's a big global company, so there's good job security.
Cons: Management is really inconsistent. Mid-level leaders often seem overwhelmed, which trickles down. It's tough to get clear direction as a Supply Chain Analyst. There's not much proactive career development from leadership.
Advice to Management: Invest more in training for mid-level managers. They need better tools to support their teams and encourage individual growth paths. Clearer communication from the top would help a lot too.

Stable Company, Good Team, Compensation Could Improve
Pros: Amcor is super stable in the packaging industry. As a Financial Analyst in Chicago, I've learned a lot about global finance. The team is very supportive, and the hybrid work setup helps my work-life balance. Good career opportunities are here.
Cons: Compensation for my role could be more competitive, especially in Chicago. Raises often feel small. Also, some internal processes can be pretty slow.
Advice to Management: Focus on reviewing and adjusting compensation packages, particularly base salaries and annual raises, to ensure they remain competitive with industry standards in key locations like Chicago. Streamlining some of the internal approval processes would also boost efficiency.

Solid corporate culture, decent place to grow
Pros: I like the stability that comes with working for a global packaging industry leader. My team in the Chicago office is really supportive, and we have a decent hybrid work model. As a Packaging Engineer, I get to work on some pretty cool sustainable packaging solutions and the professional environment is generally good.
Cons: Sometimes it feels a bit bureaucratic. Getting new ideas approved can take a while, which is typical for a big corporate environment. There aren't always super clear paths for career growth, especially for technical roles, unless you really push for them. The pace can be tough sometimes, especially around project deadlines.
Advice to Management: Try to streamline the approval processes for new initiatives and projects. Investing more in clear career development programs for individual contributors, particularly in engineering and R&D, would really help boost morale and retention.

Solid place, but culture needs work
Pros: I've enjoyed the remote work flexibility. The pay and benefits are pretty good for the packaging industry. There's good job security too, which is a big plus in a corporate environment.
Cons: The company culture is pretty traditional. Innovation feels slow and there's not much room for trying new things as a Marketing Specialist. It's tough to make your voice heard when you're working remotely.
Advice to Management: Management should really try to embrace more modern ideas. Encourage more collaboration and listen to what employees, especially remote ones, are saying. Speed up decision-making processes.

Pay's okay, but benefits are solid here.
Pros: The 401k match is pretty good, a real solid benefit for manufacturing roles. The healthcare plan is comprehensive and covers a lot, which is a huge plus. It's a decent setup overall.
Cons: Base salary for Production Planner roles could definitely be higher to be more competitive. Raises aren't always what you'd hope for, even with good performance. The annual bonus isn't huge, more like a nice extra.
Advice to Management: Revisit the base pay structure for key supply chain roles like Production Planners. It would really help attract and retain top talent in the competitive flexible packaging industry.

Pay's Okay, Benefits Are Standard
Pros: The health insurance is decent; it covers a good amount. They offer a pretty standard 401k match, which is expected for a large corporate company. The hybrid work model is a real plus for my supply chain analyst role, offering some flexibility.
Cons: Salaries aren't super competitive, especially for experienced professionals in the packaging industry. Don't expect big annual raises; they're usually just cost-of-living. The bonus structure isn't very clear and bonuses tend to be small.
Advice to Management: Review salary bands to be more competitive for roles in the Alpharetta, Georgia market. Make the bonus program more transparent and meaningful to really motivate employees.

Okay Flexibility for Corporate Roles
Pros: I liked the hybrid work setup as a Supply Chain Analyst. You get 2-3 days WFH, which helps a lot with the Chicago commute. The company respects standard 40-hour weeks for most office staff.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't consistent across all departments. If you're in manufacturing operations, it's pretty much onsite all the time, no remote options. It can feel a bit rigid compared to other companies in the packaging industry.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more flexible options for teams that aren't strictly operations-focused. A bit more trust in remote work could really boost morale and attract top talent.

Solid job security in packaging industry
Pros: Amcor is a huge player in the packaging industry, so there's a lot of stability here. As a Supply Chain Analyst, I felt pretty secure in my role, even during shaky economic times. It's a large corporate environment, which usually means less risk of sudden layoffs for core functions.
Cons: While secure, sometimes career growth can feel a bit slow for experienced roles here. It's a big company in Chicago, IL, so change can be sluggish. You might feel like just another number sometimes; don't expect rapid promotions or huge shifts in responsibility.
Advice to Management: Keep investing in clear career pathing for employees, especially in corporate roles. It's important to show people where they can go, not just that they're safe.
