Company Reviews

U Mobile is a data-centric and multiple award-winning mobile data service company in Malaysia. We may be the youngest telco in the country but our understanding of customer preferences has enabled us to grow from strength to strength.

Our rapid response to changes in consumer behaviour and needs has enabled us to be the first in industry to introduce various products and services such as free monthly data for prepaid plans and microfinancing for smartphones as well as unlimited data to customers at very affordable prices.

In our quest to become Malaysia’s preferred digital telco, we have also introduced many first-of-its-kind digital services to the market such as telcoassurance products. U Mobile also has a comprehensive fintech ecosystem offering that consists of GoPayz, a universal e-wallet which offers consumers digital financial and lifestyle services, and GoBiz, a digital payment acceptance solution designed for businesses both big and small.

Being the youngest telco also means U Mobile has the most modern network infrastructure that enables us to scale up based on demand in the most efficient way. Our award-winning robust network is also ready for 5G and beyond and we are committed to continue investing in our network so that our customers will always enjoy a superior network experience.

At U Mobile, we can help you kickstart your career, realise your unlimited potential, and reach greater heights!

Work-life balance is decent but can be tricky.
Pros: I did appreciate the hybrid work model; sometimes I could work from home. The team in the Kuala Lumpur office was usually pretty understanding if I needed to leave a bit early.
Cons: Honestly, as a Marketing Specialist, campaign launches in the telecommunications industry mean super long hours. It's tough to disconnect and there's pressure to hit aggressive targets.
Advice to Management: Try to manage workloads better, especially for Marketing Specialists during peak campaign times. Encourage teams to truly disconnect after hours.

Okay for Stability, Slow for Career Growth
Pros: The team in the Kuala Lumpur office is generally supportive, which is a big plus. There's good job security working for a major mobile network operator, especially in the telecoms industry. They offer some decent training programs if you actively seek them out.
Cons: Career growth here is pretty slow for sales roles like mine. There isn't a clear path for advancement, and internal promotions don't happen often. It often feels like you're stuck in the same spot for a long time.
Advice to Management: Management needs to develop clearer career progression paths for employees. Implement a better system for internal promotions and skill development across all departments.

Work-life balance can be a real struggle here
Pros: The team here is generally supportive, which really helps when deadlines hit. There's solid exposure to the latest trends in the telecommunications sector. Plus, the Kuala Lumpur office has decent facilities.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Marketing Executive often feels like an uphill battle. Expect late nights and weekend work, especially during big campaign launches for digital services. It's hard to completely switch off.
Advice to Management: Management needs to really look at workload distribution, especially for roles like mine. Burnout is a real concern in this competitive telecommunications sector; more headcount or better project planning could help.
