Flexibility is lacking for most corporate roles

Programmed is a pretty stable company, but if you're looking for real work flexibility, especially in corporate roles like a Program Manager in Sydney, NSW, it's not their strong suit.

Pros

Job security is decent, which is great in the staffing solutions industry. There's always work, and the pay is okay. It's a big corporate structure, so things are consistent.

Cons

The work flexibility here isn't great. As a Program Manager, I found it mostly an onsite role, making true hybrid work pretty rare. Getting approval for remote days was always a struggle, even for non-client facing tasks.

Advice to Management

Management should seriously look at more flexible work options, especially hybrid models. It would really boost morale and help attract talent for roles like Program Manager.

Decent job security for contract recruiters
Pros: As a Recruitment Consultant, I've found job security here is pretty decent for temporary and contract placements. There's always work in the staffing industry, especially for clients needing quick fill roles.
Cons: However, if you're an internal employee in the Sydney office, especially in non-revenue generating roles, it can feel a bit shaky. There's a constant pressure to perform or face potential changes.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more stability and clear career paths for internal staff. It would help with morale and retention.

Solid work, but growth feels a bit stuck.
Pros: For Field Service Technician roles, the job security is pretty decent. There's always consistent work, especially with their big contracts in construction services across NSW. You won't be worrying about layoffs much here.
Cons: Pay raises are slow to come, even for experienced trades roles. Career progression feels limited beyond a certain point. The onsite work can be demanding with long days sometimes.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer paths for career growth within trades roles. Review the compensation structure to ensure experienced staff are rewarded fairly, especially given the demanding onsite work.

Okay Pay, Benefits Could Be Stronger
Pros: The base salary was decent enough, especially when I was starting out as a Recruitment Consultant. You do get standard corporate benefits like basic health insurance, which is a plus. Quarterly bonuses were achievable if you consistently hit your targets.
Cons: However, the pay raises were pretty small, even with good performance. For a Recruitment Consultant in the Sydney office, the total compensation package felt a bit behind market rates compared to other companies in the labor hire industry. The superannuation contributions were just the minimum, and there weren't many extra perks or significant pay increases that come with more experience. It makes it tough to stay long-term for onsite work.
Advice to Management: Review the compensation structure for key roles like Recruitment Consultants. Better pay and more competitive benefits would really help with employee retention, especially in a city like Sydney where cost of living is high. Look at what competitors in the labor hire industry are offering to keep good talent.
