Job Security Can Be a Bit Shaky Here
Pros: I've learned a ton about cloud software and unified communications. There's good exposure to modern tech stacks if you're a Software Engineer here. The remote setup is solid, truly WFH from Austin, TX.
Cons: Job security isn't its strong suit, especially with recent layoffs. You really can't get too comfortable, even in big tech companies like this. It feels like reorgs are always looming.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to focus on transparent communication around company strategy and job stability. It's tough on morale when everyone's worried about the next round of layoffs.

Good Remote, But Sprints Can Be Rough
Pros: Being a remote Software Engineer here is pretty solid. The WFH setup from Austin, TX, lets me manage personal stuff easily. There's decent flexibility in the daily schedule for most tasks within the UCaaS industry.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough during big sprints. As a developer, I sometimes put in 50+ hours to meet deadlines. On-call rotations for software engineers can also be pretty demanding and impact evenings.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the sprint cycles more. The project demands really impact personal time. Maybe look into reducing the on-call burden for engineering teams to improve work-life balance.

Hybrid model helps, but still long hours sometimes
Pros: I've enjoyed the hybrid work arrangement; it's nice to be in the Belmont, CA office a few days and remote the rest. As a software engineer, I can usually hit my targets without working crazy late most of the time. They offer decent PTO, which helps with overall work-life balance.
Cons: There's definitely a constant push for quick releases in this unified communications industry. Sometimes it feels like you're always on call, especially during critical launches. You'll likely put in 50-hour weeks occasionally, which can be tough to manage.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project scopes better so teams aren't constantly burning out. More focus on sustainable workloads for us software engineers would be great.
